(5MinNewsBreak.com) – In a worrying new development showing the violent face of the left, a donor to the Democrat Party has been arrested after being accused of sending threats to kill six members of the U.S. Supreme Court and some of their family members.
The arrest was publicized by the U.S. Department of Justice on Thursday, revealing that 76-year-old Panos Anastasiou allegedly sent over 465 messages via a publicly accessible website managed by the Supreme Court itself.
From March 10, 2023, to July 16, 2024, Anastasiou’s communications with the Court grew increasingly hostile and threatening.
According to the Department of Justice, the content of these messages “escalated to messages intending to threaten harm toward the victims.”
The messages were marked by “violent, racist, and homophobic rhetoric coupled with threats of assassination by torture, hanging, and firearms.”
Legal documents specify that these threats were targeted at intimidating the first six justices of the Supreme Court and were a response to judicial decisions made by these justices in their official capacities.
While the identities of the justices targeted were not disclosed by the prosecutors, it’s significant to point out that six of the nine current justices on the Supreme Court are considered conservative.
Anastasiou now faces serious legal charges. He has been indicted on nine counts of making threats against federal judges and an additional 13 counts of making threats via interstate commerce.
Should he be found guilty on all charges, Anastasiou could be sentenced to up to 155 years in prison, with a potential ten years for each count of threatening a judge and five years for each threat made via interstate commerce, The Daily Wire reports.
Attorney General Merrick Garland highlighted the severity and repercussions of the actions attributed to Anastasiou, stating, “We allege that the defendant made repeated, heinous threats to murder and torture Supreme Court Justices and their families to retaliate against them for decisions he disagreed with.”
Garland emphasized the critical dependency of the justice system and democracy itself on the protection and independence of judges and public officials.
“Our justice system depends on the ability of judges to make their decisions based on the law, and not on fear. Our democracy depends on the ability of public officials to do their jobs without fearing for their lives or the safety of their families,” he declared.
Additionally, records from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) show that Anastasiou had made 82 donations to various left-wing causes and to Democrat candidates through the Democrat fundraising platform ActBlue, reflecting his political engagements and contributions over time.
