(5MinNewsBreak.com) – In a bombshell development, it has been revealed that minutes before a tragic mass shooting at Apalachee High School, the mother of the 14-year-old suspect called the school to alert them about an “extreme emergency” involving her son.
This detail comes from a report that gained access to text messages showing the mother’s urgent plea to the school counselor to find and check on her son.
Marcee Gray, the mother, made a 10-minute call to the school at 9:50 a.m., only half an hour before the gunfire broke out on September 4.
According to Marcee’s sister Annie Brown, a school counselor told Marcee during the call that her son, Colt Gray, was discussing a school shooting.
The family had been in communication with the school about Colt’s mental health issues just a week before the shooting, as per more text messages.
Brown also revealed to a family member that Colt was experiencing “homicidal and suicidal thoughts.”
Brown expressed a heartrending view, stating Colt was “begging for help from everybody around him” and felt let down by the adults in his life.
For instance, his mother had been involved in legal troubles. She pled guilty to a family violence charge last December and was ordered to restrict contact with her husband.
Back in May 2023, local police interrogated the family after the FBI was tipped off about Colt making threats.
However, officers found no grounds for arrest at that time and Colt denied the accusations.
On the day of the shooting, Colt used an AR-15-style rifle to kill four people and wound nine others at his high school.
He gave himself up after a school resource officer approached him. Colt is now facing four counts of felony murder.
His father, Colin Gray, has also been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder and eight counts of cruelty to children, as he reportedly gifted the firearm to Colt.
When approached for more details, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation chose not to disclose further information at this stage, directing queries to the Piedmont Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
