(5MinNewsBreak.com) – In a development bound to surprise many, according to a bombshell poll, Florida’s First Lady, Casey DeSantis, currently leads the potential Republican candidates for the 2026 governor race with 57% support from registered Republicans, positioning her as a formidable contender.

As a favorite for the 2026 gubernatorial race, her name continues to dominate discussions among Republican supporters.
With an enormous favorability from GOP voters, she stands as a beacon of continuity in Florida politics.
This comes following a UNF poll that showed an impressive overall favorability despite being a non-politician.
Her strong association as the wife of Governor Ron DeSantis seems to lend her a distinct advantage in the eyes of many voters.
Currently, Governor Ron DeSantis is unable to seek re-election in 2026 due to term limits, leaving the field wide open for potential successors.
Casey’s potential candidacy promises a sense of continuity that aligns with the conservative values and policies upheld by her husband.
Despite Ron’s own downplay of discussing future plans for Casey, a significant number of Republican donors have expressed interest in supporting her potential run.
Other potential Republican candidates include U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody, former U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, who has had his political ambitions clipped by ethics investigations, U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson.
However, according to the poll, many of these candidates suffer from a lack of recognition among voters, possibly favoring Casey DeSantis’s well-known public persona.
“She’s a force of nature. It’s not something that she’s seeking out. A lot of people are just concerned about the future of the state,” says Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Poll results indicate diverse opinions among Floridians on critical state issues.
This includes strong opposition to renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, and significant support for recreational marijuana legalization, showing potential future battlegrounds in Florida’s legislative scene.
Regarding potential support splits, 67% of respondents are in favor of allowing adults to possess small amounts of marijuana for recreational purposes.
However, abortion remains a contentious issue, with 54% believing current laws should be more lenient.
These issues could play central roles in elevating or challenging Casey DeSantis’ platform if she decides to run.
If Casey DeSantis chooses to enter the race, it may also lead to clashes between DeSantis and Trump supporters.
Although Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump experienced a public fallout, their political ambitions remain integral to Republican supporters.
Casey’s candidacy could become a junction of joining forces or reigniting rivalry.
