(5MinNewsBreak.com) – Confirming that liberal New York has become a wild crime hotspot, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare was murdered right outside a Manhattan hotel.

50-year-old Brian Thompson was fatally shot in the chest in a targeted attack early this morning outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel.

Take a look at the scene outside the hotel in the video down below.

The incident happened at 1335 Avenue of the Americas, catching the busy city off guard. Thompson was rushed to Mount Sinai West hospital where he tragically died of his injuries.

This alarming development has all the signs of a carefully planned assassination.

Witnesses reported that the suspect, described as a 6′ tall man with a slim build, had been lurking outside the hotel for hours before the attack. The killer, dressed in all black with a face mask, fled the scene on a bicycle.

Mayor Eric Adams confirmed the chilling nature of this crime, stating, “It appears as though this was a targeted murder.”

“It seemed to have been clearly targeted by an individual, and we will apprehend that individual,” Adams added.

The NYPD is conducting an ongoing investigation and has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the killer.

Surveillance photos of the gunman have been obtained, but so far, no arrests have been made.

UnitedHealth Group, the parent company of UnitedHealthcare, was forced to cancel an investor day event scheduled at the Hilton due to the incident.

UnitedHealth Group CEO Andrew Witty addressed attendees, saying, “We’re dealing with a very serious medical situation.”

Thompson, who had been with UnitedHealthcare since 2004 and served as CEO since April 2021, leaves behind a legacy of leadership in the healthcare industry.

UnitedHealthcare, the largest private health insurer in the U.S. and ranked fifth on the Fortune 500, now faces an uncertain future.

At UnitedHealthcare’s headquarters, flags were lowered to half-staff as employees were encouraged to go home and take time to process the news.
