Congressman: Invoke the 25th Amendment

( – In the face of the alarming gaffes highlighting his mental decline, House Republicans are ramping up their calls for Joe Biden’s ouster employing the 25th Amendment due to concerns over his cognitive sharpness.

Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) plans to introduce a resolution urging Biden’s Cabinet to activate the 25th Amendment and get Biden out of the presidency with Kamala Harris as the replacement.

This initiative follows a recent special counsel report questioning Biden’s cognitive functions, especially his memory capabilities.

“Numerous instances were articulated in the report, and have played out in full public view, showing President Biden’s apparent cognitive decline and lack of mental stamina,” Buck stated.

He emphasized the need for a president who is mentally and physically robust given the wide array of societal and security challenges the country faces.

The resolution comes in the wake of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s findings concerning Biden’s handling of classified documents when he was vice president. Although the investigation did not lead to criminal charges, it highlighted Biden’s portrayal as “a sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.”

Buck pointed out Biden’s verbal slip-ups including confusing current leaders with those long dead. In one instance and while addressing the special counsel’s report, Biden misidentified the president of Egypt as the president of Mexico during remarks about the Gaza conflict.

No president has been ousted via the 25th Amendment’s Section 4, which allows for the declaration of presidential incapacity by executive branch members, a process that requires the vice president to agree.

Should Biden be declared unfit, he could dispute this by notifying Congress of his fitness and prompt a Congressional decision based on the Cabinet’s challenge.

Buck’s push for the 25th Amendment stands out due to his previous unwillingness to support impeachment efforts against Biden when he stressed the importance of having solid evidence before considering such a drastic measure.

Besides Buck, several Republicans, including Senators Rick Scott and Mike Lee and Representatives Mary Miller and Mike Collins, have voiced support for Biden’s removal through the 25th Amendment.
