Fauci Aide May Be Arrested

(5MinNewsBreak.com) – Republican lawmakers arе considering the possibility of recommending criminal charges against a senior adviser to former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci.

David Morens, the adviser in question, has been under scrutiny from the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic since June.

The focus began after it was discovered that Morens used his personal Gmail account to conduct official business regarding COVID-19, a tactic allegedly used to bypass Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

According to the Examiner, even though he was set to give his first public testimony before Congress, Morens decided not to submit a written opening statement ahead of the hearing.

Subcommittee Chair Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) expressed significant concerns about Morens’ actions, stating, “At the very least, he misled Congress through his transcribed interview,” adding that “Lying to Congress is a felony.”

“As we go through it and learn more, we may make some criminal referrals. Hopefully, we have a Department of Justice that’s willing to act when laws have been violated,” said Wenstrup.

Concerns about Morens extend to his connections with the EcoHealth Alliance, a nonprofit involved in controversy over its research funding practices with the Wuhan Institutе of Virology in China.

Allegations have surfaced that EcoHealth did not fully disclosе the nature of its research to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which involved potentially dangerous pathogens.

Further adding to the intriguе, the FBI has recently concluded that COVID-19 likely originated from an accidental lab leak, increasing scrutiny on the type of research funded by EcoHealth.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has taken a proactive stance by urging Attorney General Merrick Garland to initiate a criminal investigation into Morens’ conduct.

In a letter sent to Garland, Paul cited evidencе suggesting that Morens intentionally destroyed federal records related to COVID-19’s origins and misused his personal email to avoid federal records laws.

Paul emphasized the severity of the allegations, stating, “Emails obtained by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic provide significant evidence that Dr. Morens unlawfully destroyed federal records relating to the origins of COVID-19 and improperly used his personal email address to evade federal records laws.”
