HUGE: Kamala ‘Squandered the Moment on Populist Gimmicks’

KAMALA HARRIS

(5MinNewsBreak.com) – In a striking development, Kamala Harris has come under a massive attack by “friendly fire” as an ultraliberal mainstream media newspaper, The Washington Post, has blasted the Democrat presidential candidate, declaring that she “squandered the moment on populist gimmicks.”

At the end of last week, The Washington Post’s editorial board delivered a harsh assessment of Vice President Kamala Harris’s recent unveiling of her economic policies, characterizing it as a “disappointment.”

Even though her speech intended to address the economic anxieties of American citizens, Harris was critiqued for her lack of a concrete plan and an over-reliance on populist rhetoric, the board expressed, cited by The Daily Caller.

They pointed out that despite widespread concern over rising living costs, Harris focused on corporate misdeeds and the need to outlaw price gouging rather than articulating a comprehensive economic strategy.

In her remarks, Vice President Harris underscored the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to combat inflation, which continues to outpace the levels experienced under the Trump administration.

However, The Washington Post editorial board noted that Harris avoided a detailed discussion of the complex factors driving inflation, such as supply chain complications and Federal Reserve policies, opting instead to blame corporate greed.

Her suggestion of a federal initiative to combat price-gouging lacked both clarity and concrete details.

The editorial also highlighted potential issues with Harris’s economic proposals, drawing comparisons to the ineffective price controls of the 1970s implemented under President Richard Nixon.

It expressed skepticism about the practicality and potential effectiveness of targeting industries like grocery stores, which typically operate on slim profit margins.

However, the editorial did commend aspects of Harris’s economic strategy, particularly her proposals concerning housing.

Harris advocated for the construction of 3 million new homes to mitigate the housing shortage that has escalated prices, coupled with tax incentives to stimulate further development.

Yet, her idea to offer $25,000 in down payment assistance to first-time homebuyers could paradoxically lead to higher housing prices by boosting demand without adequately increasing supply, the board cautioned.

Harris also aims to enhance the child tax credit and prolong tax reductions for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

Nevertheless, financing these ambitious proposals remains problematic.

Harris maintains that her plan will not impose additional taxes on households earning below $400,000 annually, even though budget analysts project that it could result in a $1.7 trillion increase in the national debt over the next decade.

“Even adjusted for the pandering standards of campaign economics, however, Ms. Harris’s speech Friday ranks as a disappointment,” The Washington Post editorial board concluded.
