(5MinNewsBreak.com) – In unfortunate news for the Democratic Party, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) shared that he is stepping back from a presidential bid and that he is not ready to support Joe Biden’s reelection efforts.

Watch the video below.

During an interview with Kaitlan Collins on CNN’s “The Source,” Manchin explained why he will not participate in the upcoming presidential election as a centrist candidate.

The Senator stated in the interview:

“I saw my friends walk away when they were determined to pass a border security, and they were on board three days before that. And with Donald Trump coming as hard as he came at them, they cower down and walked away. I said, ‘We’re not fixing anything in Washington.’”

Manchin has been vocal about cautioning Biden and his crew that they have gone too far left politically and urged for a significant shift towards the center to avoid a tough battle in November.

On whether he would back Biden, Manchin said:

“I’m not endorsing anybody, right now. We’re gonna see what all happens, we still got plenty of time here. I’m gonna do everything I can to help move them back to the middle and show them where the strength of this country lies, where the voting bloc of the country lies, and extremes are going to be there no matter what.”

Manchin also added that he would work towards giving the political middle a voice to avoid empowering a minority.

“I’m just I’m trying to do everything I can to make sure that we have a pathway forward where the center of this country is going to be represented. And that’s the center-left and center-right,” he stated.

According to Manchin most Americans dislike politicians who are extremely right-wing or left-wing, so he champions a centrist movement where both Republicans and Democrats can govern together.

Faced with a Biden vs. Trump scenario in November, Manchin said he was undecided and hinted that the race might still attract new contenders.
