(5MinNewsBreak.com) – A nationwide manhunt is underway for a dangerous murder suspect who attempted to deceive authorities with a fake bear attack story.
The FBI and U.S. Marshals are leading the charge to arrest Nicholas Wayne Hamlett, a violent criminal who poses a significant threat to public safety.
Hamlett is wanted for first-degree murder in Tennessee. He used a stolen identity to report a false bear attack in an attempt to cover up his crime.
Investigators quickly saw through his deception when they found inconsistencies between the reported story and the crime scene evidence.
The authorities discovered a bloodied corpse with injuries inconsistent with a bear attack or fall.
The victim’s ID belonged to Brandon Andrade, an identity Hamlett had stolen and used multiple times.
This revelation exposed Hamlett’s web of lies and set off alarms for law enforcement agencies nationwide.
Joseph Carrico, a law enforcement official involved in the case, issued a stern warning to the fugitive:
“Nick. Let’s end this peacefully. Turn yourself in. Have your day in court. The long arm of the law has a long and huge reach, and we will find you no matter where you hide. The deputies and investigators here now know their county well. The TBI agents know their state well. The FBI and the Marshall Service know the country well and have reach across the world. So there’s nowhere to hide.”
Hamlett’s criminal history paints a disturbing picture of a repeat offender who poses a severe threat to public safety.
In 2009, he was arrested for attempted murder and kidnapping in Alabama. Despite pleading down to felony assault, he still received a 20-year prison sentence in 2012.
The fugitive’s extensive network of connections spans multiple states, including Alabama, Montana, Alaska, Kentucky and Florida, which makes the manhunt more complicated.
Law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to track down Hamlett. He is described as having blue eyes, standing 5’7″ tall and weighing 170 pounds. He is known to use multiple aliases, including Brandon Andrade’s stolen identity.
Law enforcement official Tommy Jones emphasized, “There is a risk to the public, a great risk to the public. The offender, he does have a history.”
“He did know this victim. He has known him for quite a few months now. But yes, there is a risk of the public. This was not isolated incident by any means,” he added.
As the search intensifies, the U.S. Marshal Service is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to Hamlett’s capture.
