Signaling an outstanding win for President Donald Trump’s economic agenda, McDonald’s has announced a massive hiring spree of 375,000 workers.

The fast-food giant has partnered directly with Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer to boost employment.

This pro-business move comes after McDonald’s donated $1 million to President Trump’s second presidential inauguration.

Unveiled at a press conference in Ohio, the hiring initiative represents McDonald’s largest recruitment effort in years.

The move dwarfs its 2020 push to add 260,000 workers as restaurants reopened after COVID-19 closures.

The expansion will create tens of thousands of new jobs in Ohio alone, demonstrating its significant economic impact across American communities.

McDonald’s USA President Joe Erlinger highlighted the local impact during the announcement:

“Here in Ohio, that means more than 20,000 jobs. That’s 20,000 opportunities for people to gain new skills. That’s 20,000 jobs where new crew will build connections with customers. That’s 20,000 more ways McDonald’s is making an impact.”

The partnership between McDonald’s and the Trump administration underscores the president’s commitment to business growth and job creation.

Labor Secretary Chavez-DeRemer praised the initiative during the announcement, emphasizing how it aligns with Trump’s economic vision.

She said:

“McDonald’s is sparking a ripple effect of prosperity for our workers, communities and the economy. By expanding their workforce, the corporation will be driving investment and setting the standard for industry growth, whether as a launch pad for a different career or as a ladder for internal achievements.”

This hiring spree comes as part of McDonald’s larger expansion plans to open 900 new restaurants across America by 2027.

The company currently operates over 13,500 locations nationwide, with 95% run by franchisees.

McDonald’s is betting on continued economic improvement under President Trump’s policies despite recent challenges.

These included a 3.6% decline in same-store sales earlier this year and reduced spending from inflation-weary consumers.

The company’s Archways to Opportunity program, which celebrated its 10th anniversary alongside this announcement, has provided $240 million in tuition assistance to over 90,000 employees.

The program supports workers pursuing high school diplomas, college education, English language learning, and career advancement.

Former McDonald’s worker Anamaria Monterroso, who benefited from the program, offered her perspective: “Just because you work in fast food doesn’t mean your dreams end there.”

With 1 in 8 Americans having worked at McDonald’s at some point, the giant is one of America’s largest private employers.
