According to NASA, in 2021, a significant solar storm impacted spacecraft in proximity to the Sun, Earth, and even Mars, reports, as cited by Insider Paper.

NASA’s heliophysics missions have disclosed that six spacecraft experienced the effects of this solar disturbance.

These solar phenomena pose risks to humans, satellites, and spacecraft. A 2023 report from the European Space Agency highlighted the first simultaneous detection of energetic particles from a solar flare impacting Earth, the moon, and Mars. This raised concerns among many.

“Space radiation can create a real danger to our exploration throughout the Solar System. Measurements of high-level radiation events by robotic missions is critical to prepare for long-duration crewed missions,” Colin Wilson, ExoMars TGO project scientist, wrote in the ESA’s publication.
