NOW: Nationwide Egg Shortage – Details

5 Minute News Break Happening Now

(5MinNewsBreak.com) – As bird flu destroys poultry farms across America, egg shortages and skyrocketing prices threaten to throw holiday traditions into chaos.

Unsurprisingly, the Biden-Harris administration is to blame for the current disaster.

Its push for cage-free eggs has backfired as 60% of recent outbreaks have hit these “humane” farms.

Now, as Christmas approaches, American families face empty shelves and inflated costs for a staple ingredient in their recipes.

The avian influenza outbreak has devastated the U.S. egg industry, affecting over 108 million poultry across 48 states.

This catastrophic event has led to a 2.6% drop in egg production compared to last year, with further declines expected in 2024.

The impact on American consumers is already severe: egg prices have soared by 30.4% in October compared to last year.

“Bird flu is by far the biggest factor involved with egg prices,” said American Farm Bureau Federation economist Bernt Nelson

Alarmingly, the liberal agenda’s push for cage-free eggs has made the problem worse.

American Egg Board President and CEO Emily Metz highlighted the irony: “After two months of no outbreaks, we had them recently in Utah, Oregon, California and Washington, and three of those states are exclusively cage-free.”

The egg shortage is hitting hardest in states with cage-free requirements, exposing the flaws in these regulations.

The liberal bastion of California has seen cage-free egg prices skyrocket by nearly 90% from last year.

The Biden-Harris administration’s failure to address this crisis effectively is evident.

While egg farmers struggle to meet demand, especially during the holiday season, the government has been more concerned with pushing its progressive agenda than supporting American agriculture.

The Department of Agriculture predicted that egg prices will continue to rise into late 2024 and early 2025, which paints a bleak picture for consumers already burdened by Bidenomics.

In response to the crisis, some retailers are even rationing eggs now. Whole Foods Market is limiting egg purchases to three cartons per customer.

While experts advise against panic buying, many Americans are facing alarming shortages and consistently high prices.
