(5MinNewsBreak.com) – Right in the middle of hurricane season, the Biden-Harris administration’s mismanagement of taxpayer funds has left the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) broke and unable to protect American citizens from natural disasters.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas admitted that after wasting over $1 billion on illegals, FEMA now lacks the resources to handle hurricane cleanup efforts.
Mayorkas dropped this bombshell while traveling to survey damage from Hurricane Helene, which devastated several southeastern states and killed at least 183 Americans.
“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have,” Mayorkas told reporters. “We are expecting another hurricane hitting — we do not have the funds, FEMA does not have the funds, to make it through the season.”
This funding crisis stems directly from the Biden-Harris administration’s open borders policies, which have encouraged a wave of illegal immigration.
Over the past year, FEMA has diverted over $1 billion to support illegals pouring across the southern border.
Now, as hurricane season ramps up, the agency finds itself without resources to carry out disaster response for American citizens.
The situation has become so dire that even some Democrat senators are sounding the alarm.
A bipartisan group of 12 senators from states impacted by Hurricane Helene penned a letter to urge Congress to reconvene from recess to provide emergency funding.
“Although the true level of devastation is still unfolding, it is clear that Congress must act to meet the unmet needs in our states and address the scope and scale of destruction experienced by our constituents,” their letter read.
While FEMA struggles to scrape together resources for hurricane victims, the agency continues to funnel money toward services for illegals.
The Shelter and Services Program has allocated $640 million for the 2024 fiscal year to provide “humanitarian services” for illegals.
In turn, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and other conservative leaders have called for redirecting these migrant funds to hurricane relief efforts.
With over 150,000 households already applying for FEMA assistance due to Hurricane Helene and more storms likely on the horizon, it is baffling to prioritize illegals over taxpaying Americans in their time of need.
