(5MinNewsBreak.com) – After tripping and falling at a Battle of the Bulge commemoration event in Luxembourg, 84-year-old former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had to get emergency hip replacement surgery.
Pelosi is one of the oldest members of Congress. She tripped on marble stairs at the Grand Ducal Palace during an official engagement with other lawmakers.
The fall resulted in a hip fracture, which required immediate medical attention and surgery.
Initially hospitalized in Luxembourg, Pelosi was then transported by MEDEVAC to Landstuhl, Germany, where she received care at the U.S. military’s Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.
Despite being voted out from her role as House Speaker in 2022, Pelosi continues to wield significant influence in Congress.
She was re-elected in November to serve through 2026, though she has not announced plans for another term.
This latest health scare may fuel discussions about term limits and the need for fresh leadership in Washington.
“Speaker Pelosi is enjoying the overwhelming outpouring of prayers and well wishes and is ever determined to ensure access to quality health care for all Americans,” declared spokesman Ian Krager.
He added that Pelosi “is grateful to U.S. military staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and medical staff at Hospital Kirchberg for their excellent care and kindness.”
While Pelosi recovers, questions linger about the potential impact on her ability to serve her constituents.
As of now, no specific date has been given for her return to the United States, leaving her district without full representation in Congress.
