(5MinNewsBreak.com) – President Donald Trump’s executive orders have ended divisive diversity programs at the Pentagon in an effort to refocus the Department of Defense on its core mission.

Specifically, the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has halted celebrations for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Black History Month, and other special observances.

Titled “Pause on Special Emphasis Programs and Related Activities and Events,” the DIA’s memo confirms the immediate suspension of eleven special events.

These include Women’s History Month, Holocaust Days of Remembrance, and National Hispanic Heritage Month.

This pause is part of a broader crackdown on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives across the federal government.

President Trump’s executive order aims to eliminate “illegal discrimination” and promote merit-based opportunities within the military.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has made it clear that this is not a minor adjustment but a complete overhaul of the system.

“We’re not joking around,” Hegseth stated emphatically. “There’s no changing of names or softly manipulating something. DEI is gone.”

While the DIA’s actions have raised eyebrows, it is important to note that federal holidays, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth, will still be observed.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt affirmed:

“As far as I know, this White House certainly still intends to celebrate, and we will continue to celebrate American history and the contributions that all Americans, regardless of race, religion or creed, have made to our great country.”

Critics of DEI programs argue that these initiatives have strayed from their original intent and have instead fostered division and resentment within the military ranks.

The Trump administration aims to create a more unified and effective fighting force by refocusing on merit and individual achievement.

Secretary Hegseth has established a DEI task force to ensure compliance with the executive order.

This group is charged with reviewing and eliminating diversity programs throughout the Department of Defense, with a final report due by June 1.

The task force’s work will be crucial in reshaping military culture and restoring focus on combat readiness and national security.

Given the lack of explicit guidelines, some federal agencies are grappling with how to interpret and implement the executive order.

“We are receiving questions across the workforce on the way forward, DIA will pause all activities and events related to Agency Special Emphasis Programs effective immediately and until further notice,” the memo read.

The changes at the DIA mirror similar actions taken by the Air Force, which temporarily removed DEI coursework.

President Trump’s executive order and the Pentagon’s subsequent actions represent a significant shift in the military’s approach to diversity and inclusion.

These changes aim to create a stronger, more unified fighting force that ensures national security for future generations by prioritizing merit and individual achievement over group identity.
