(5MinNewsBreak.com) – Shocking revelations have exposed the Secret Service’s catastrophic failures in protecting GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump from an assassination attempt.
A damning Senate investigation has uncovered a web of incompetence, miscommunication and negligence that left the former President vulnerable.
The Senate’s scathing investigation into the Secret Service’s handling of a Trump rally in Pennsylvania paints a picture of an agency in disarray.
Multiple failures were identified as “foreseeable, preventable, and directly related to the events resulting in the assassination attempt that day,” according to the report. These were not minor oversights but significant lapses that put Trump’s life at risk.
Perhaps most alarming is the complete breakdown in communication among security personnel as the Secret Service operated on separate radio channels, leaving critical information out.
Even more shocking, when an individual was spotted on a nearby rooftop just two minutes before shots were fired, this crucial intel never reached key personnel.
The investigation revealed a lack of a clear chain of command and defined roles, creating a perfect storm of confusion and inaction.
No single individual was responsible for security plans, and there was no strategy to cover the building where the shooter was located. This glaring oversight left a dangerous blind spot in Trump’s protection detail.
“The consequences of those failures were dire,” said Michigan Sen. Gary Peters, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
Alarmingly, a Secret Service counter-sniper witnessed officers running toward the shooter but failed to alert anyone to remove Trump from the stage.
While the Secret Service claims to have implemented some of the committee’s suggestions and raised Trump’s security to the highest level, many are skeptical.
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul stated, “This was the result of multiple human failures of the Secret Service.”
Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle’s resignation after the criticism only underscores the severity of the agency’s shortcomings.
Now, a bipartisan House task force is digging deeper into the Secret Service’s failures, conducting interviews and reviewing documents related to the security breakdown.
Their findings could lead to much-needed legislative reforms, with a final report expected by December 13.
Some Republicans advocate for an internal overhaul of the Secret Service rather than simply increasing its budget.
With a proposed $231 million funding increase on the table, any additional resources must be used to address the systemic issues plaguing the agency, not just to cement a broken system.
