(5MinNewsBreak.com) – In a tragic turn of events at Zion National Park, a family social media influencer and CEO of a Utah-based software company fell to his death while canyoneering.
41-year-old Justin Bingham was the CEO of Opiniion, a property management software company.
He was rappelling with three others near the exit of Heaps Canyon when he fell around 200 feet.
The group had gotten the necessary permits and was following proper procedures when the accident happened.
Although 50 rescuers from Zion National Park and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office quickly responded, Bingham’s injuries were fatal.
He was extracted by a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter but was pronounced dead before reaching the hospital.
The three other canyoneers who were with Bingham remained at the site overnight and were rescued the following morning.
Two were airlifted out by helicopter, while the third rappelled down with assistance from rescue teams.
In the aftermath of his death, Opiniion issued a statement:
“Justin was a visionary who believed in the power of genuine connections, both with our clients and within our team. His commitment to building meaningful relationships made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Justin’s spirit of adventure and dedication to living life fully will be deeply missed.”
Bingham’s passion for the outdoors and his family life were well-documented on his YouTube channel, “Life in Holland.”
There he shared adventures and personal experiences, including his son Landon’s cerebral palsy diagnosis.
A graduate of Brigham Young University, where he attended on a track and field scholarship, Bingham had built a successful career in tech.
His estimated net worth was $6 million, and he had recently moved his family into a $2.6 million home in Alpine, Utah.
Despite his financial success, Bingham remained grounded and committed to his family and outdoor pursuits.
“‘Everything is always going to work out.’ He told me so many times but he was right and it usually did,” said Opiniion co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Devin Shurtleff.
“Justin wasn’t just a leader here at Opiniion – he was a mentor, a dad, and a friend to many of us. He believed that the relationships we build are what make this work meaningful, and he truly lived that every day,” he added.
