Marco Troper, 19, fell victim to a lethal mixture of elevated levels of alprazolam—a medication commonly known as Xanax used to treat anxiety—along with cocaine, amphetamine, and the antihistamine hydroxyzine.

Additionally, low concentrations of THC were detected in his system, the report from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office indicated, as reported by The New York Post.

The concentrations of alprazolam and cocaine in Troper’s bloodstream were sufficiently high to be fatal, stated the authorities.

The official cause of death was recorded as “acute combined drug toxicity,” with indications suggesting the overdose was unintentional.

Troper, a freshman studying mathematics, was discovered unresponsive in his dorm room at UC Berkeley’s Clark Kerr campus on February 13.

According to the coroner’s findings, investigators at the scene suspected the presence of both illicit and prescribed substances, including Percocet and Oxycodone.

His grandmother, Esther Wojcicki, expressed at the time that the family had concerns about Troper experimenting with drugs since beginning his college career.

“He ingested a drug, and we don’t know what was in it,” she disclosed to SFGATE.

“One thing we do know, it was a drug,” she added.

Troper was one of five children born to Susan Wojcicki and her husband, Dennis Troper.

His aunt, Anne Wojcicki, is a co-founder of the renowned genetic testing company 23andMe.

Professor Freedom Cheteni, a mentor to Troper, remembered him fondly as a “moonshot kid.”

“Marco and I were working on his most inspiring idea to cure cancer leveraging nanotechnologies and Ai the last six years,” Cheteni commemorated, sharing photos of Troper with his cousins during their childhood.
