TROUBLE: Grocery Stores Setting Limits

Yellow sign reading Crisis Just Ahead with stormy sky

(5MinNewsBreak.com) – Besides all the crises Joe Biden left in the wake of his disastrous administration, now Americans are dealing with an unbelievable egg rationing as prices soar to over $5 a dozen.

Major retailers across the United States, including Trader Joe’s, Costco, and Whole Foods, are now limiting egg purchases due to severe shortages.

Trader Joe’s has implemented a strict policy of “one dozen per customer, per day” nationwide, while Costco caps purchases at three packages per customer.

“We hope these limits will help to ensure that as many of our customers who need eggs are able to purchase them when they visit Trader Joe’s,” the company said in a statement.

In turn, Walmart has not set national limits on purchases, except for larger items. Customers can buy a maximum of two 60-count cartons at a time.

“Although supply is very tight, we’re working with suppliers to try and help meet customer demand, while striving to keep prices as low as possible,” Walmart stated.

The main culprit behind this crisis is a devastating avian flu outbreak that has led to the slaughter of over 145 million birds since 2022.

This catastrophic loss has crippled egg production, leaving shelves bare and prices soaring.

But there is more to this story than just bird flu. Liberal policies pushing for cage-free eggs in several states have contributed to supply disruptions and price increases.

These regulations championed by coastal elites are now hurting hardworking Americans who simply want affordable food for their families.

The impact of this crisis extends beyond the grocery store. Restaurants like Waffle House have been forced to introduce surcharges or raise prices to offset their losses.

“Consumers and restaurants are being forced to make difficult decisions,” Waffle House stated.

As if the situation were not dire enough, viral videos have emerged showing desperate shoppers stockpiling eggs, further depleting already scarce supplies.

The egg crisis is not just a domestic issue. In the U.S. territory of Guam, egg prices have skyrocketed to between $8 and $12 per dozen.

This astronomical increase is partly due to shipping delays, highlighting the far-reaching consequences of supply chain failures.

As 2025 progresses, there is no relief in sight. Egg prices were already 36.8% higher in December 2024 than the previous year, with further increases expected.
