Underscoring the danger conservative leaders face on a daily basis, a New York leftist with a violent criminal past has been caught threatening to assassinate President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
FBI agents are investigating 50-year-old Brian Tate, who explicitly described using a high-powered rifle against President Trump.
Tate also referenced shooting the president “in the back of ear from 300 yards,” eerily similar to the July assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Agents from the FBI and Secret Service recently searched Tate’s High Falls residence in New York after uncovering alarming social media posts made under the alias “James Tate.”
According to an FBI affidavit filed in federal court, Tate made specific threats on X (formerly Twitter) involving his .270 caliber bolt-action rifle.
Tate’s dangerous obsession with harming President Trump became evident when he responded to a graphic animation of the president’s head exploding.
According to the federal affidavit, he commented, “I can do that with a .270 from 300 yards. ”
The shocking threats did not stop with President Trump. When responding to an article about Musk’s position on Social Security, Tate declared, “Millions of us declare war back.”
In another disturbing post directed at Musk, he specifically mentioned a “270 in the back of ear from 300 yards.”
What makes this case even more concerning is Tate’s previous criminal history.
According to authorities, he has a 1998 conviction for criminal sale of a controlled substance, legally banning him from owning firearms.
Despite this prohibition, Tate repeatedly referenced owning rifles in his threatening posts, bragging, “My favorite rifle is my 270 MAGA, stop asking.”
The FBI’s investigation comes amid heightened concerns for President Trump’s safety following the July 13 assassination attempt in Butler.
There, a gunman’s bullet grazed the president’s ear, disturbingly similar to what Tate specifically threatened.
Yet despite these explicit threats, Tate’s social media account with over 95,000 followers remains active, continuing to post anti-Trump content.
The FBI and Secret Service are continuing their investigation into Tate, who represents the latest in a disturbing pattern of threats against the president.
Federal authorities have seized digital evidence from Tate’s home as they build their case.
However, many question why someone making such explicit assassination threats has not been immediately arrested.
The FBI has not yet commented on when charges might be filed or what is causing the delay in taking this apparent threat to President Trump and Musk off the streets.
