(5MinNewsBreak.com) – In a highly intriguing disclosure, GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has revealed the likely role that billionaire Elon Musk, the owner of X and CEO of Tesla, would play in a potential second Trump administration.
Musk, amidst his numerous entrepreneurial ventures, lacks the time to serve directly in Donald Trump’s Cabinet, but could still offer his expertise in a consulting capacity, according to the former president.
Speaking on Monday, Trump expressed a robust appreciation for Musk’s talents and intellect, highlighting the importance of nurturing such exceptional individuals.
“Elon and I have a great relationship. He’s great, and he’s smart and we have to cherish our geniuses, we don’t have many of them. He is a brilliant guy. What he would really like to do is get involved in cutting some of the fat, and he knows how to do it,” Trump articulated in a discussion with former Navy SEAL Shawn Ryan.
Trump elaborated on Musk’s eagerness to contribute, despite his extensive business commitments, cited by Newsmax.
“He wants to be involved. Now look, he’s running big businesses and all that, so he can’t, really, I don’t think he could be Cabinet. I’d put him in the Cabinet, absolutely, but I don’t know how he could do that with all the things he’s got going. But he can sort of, as the expression goes, consult with the country and give you some very good ideas, like on AI, nobody knows more about it than Elon. It’s a big thing,” the former president said elaborated.
Further emphasizing Musk’s potential role in his administration, Trump, in a previous statement to Reuters last week, indicated that he would consider appointing Musk to a Cabinet or advisory position were he to be elected.
In this conversation, Trump also voiced skepticism regarding the efficacy of tax incentives for electric vehicles.
“Tax credits and tax incentives are not generally a very good thing,” Trump disclosed following a campaign event in York, Pennsylvania.
This comment was made in light of discussions surrounding a $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicle purchases, a policy from which Musk’s Tesla has greatly benefited.
When probed about the possibility of Musk taking up a formal advisory role or Cabinet position, Trump confirmed his openness to such an arrangement.
“He’s a very smart guy. I certainly would, if he would do it, I certainly would. He’s a brilliant guy,” Trump reiterated.
This interaction comes in the wake of Musk’s public endorsement of Trump in the US presidential race.
