Trump and his team blasted Judge Juan Merchan’s ruling, which exposed the deep-rooted corruption within the justice system.
“The legal system is broken, and businesses can’t take a chance in getting caught up in this quicksand. IT’S ALL RIGGED, in this case against a political opponent, ME!!!” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform.
He began his message by saying:
“Virtually every legal scholar and pundit says THERE IS NO (ZERO!) CASE AGAINST ME. The Judge fabricated the facts, and the law, no different than the other New York Judicial and Prosecutorial Witch Hunts. That’s why businesses are fleeing New York, taking with them millions of jobs, and BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN TAXES.”
Merchan’s decision comes just mere days before Trump’s upcoming inauguration.
His refusal to postpone the January 10, 2025, sentencing date raised serious questions about the integrity of the legal process.
The timing of this decision appears calculated to cast a shadow over Trump’s transition to power, further fueling concerns about the weaponization of the judiciary.
The charges against Trump, which include 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, have been widely criticized as a politically motivated witch hunt.
Trump has consistently maintained his innocence, with his legal team arguing that the case is fundamentally flawed and should be dismissed.
Trump spokesman Steven Cheung expressed: “Today, President Trump’s legal team moved to stop the unlawful sentencing in the Manhattan D.A.’s Witch Hunt.”
“The Supreme Court’s historic decision on Immunity, the state constitution of New York, and other established legal precedent mandate that this meritless hoax be immediately dismissed,” he continued.
Despite the legal challenges, Trump’s unwavering support from the American people was evident in his resounding victory in the general election against Kamala Harris.
This clear mandate from voters underscores the disconnect between the will of the people and the actions of activist judges like Merchan.
Although Merchan has kept this politically motivated case alive, other legal challenges against Trump have been shelved.
Special Counsel Jack Smith dismissed federal cases against the president-elect, and a Georgia racketeering case has stalled due to a conflict of interest.
In the meantime, Trump’s legal team is not backing down. They appealed to the Supreme Court for a last-minute halt to the proceedings, fighting against the clear abuse of the justice system.
