Trump Tells Federal Workers: Take the Money and Run

(5MinNewsBreak.com) – President Donald Trump’s bombshell move to shrink bloated government bureaucracy and save taxpayers billions has liberals in Washington fuming.

The administration has offered a massive 8-month severance package to federal employees who voluntarily resign.

The president’s plan aims to trim up to 10% of the workforce, potentially saving $100 billion.

This common-sense approach to fiscal responsibility has career bureaucrats and their union bosses crying foul.

The Trump administration’s “deferred resignation” program is available from January 28 to February 6.

It gives all 2 million federal workers a choice: return to the office full-time or take a generous buyout.

This decisive action addresses the unacceptable situation where only 6% of federal employees currently work full-time in the office, years after the COVID pandemic ended.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt did not mince words about the initiative’s purpose.

“American taxpayers pay for the salaries of federal government employees, and therefore deserve employees working on their behalf who actually show up to work in our wonderful federal buildings, also paid for by taxpayers, “she said.

Leavitt added, “If they don’t want to work in the office and contribute to making America great again, then they are free to choose a different line of work, and the Trump Administration will provide a very generous payout of 8 months.”

The program excludes essential personnel like military members, postal workers, and those in immigration enforcement and national security roles.

Participating employees will retain pay and benefits until September 30, even if they choose not to work in person.

Predictably, union bosses are up in arms about the proposal. The American Federation of Government Employees warned of “chaos” and “unintended consequences.”

This initiative is part of President Trump’s broader strategy to overhaul the federal government, reduce wasteful spending, and ensure that government workers are aligned with the administration’s America First agenda.

By offering a voluntary buyout, the administration is providing a fair opportunity for those unwilling to return to the office or adapt to higher performance standards to exit gracefully.

Critics argue this move could drive away talented employees, but supporters counter that it will weed out those more interested in cushy work-from-home arrangements than serving the American people.

As the February 6 deadline approaches, federal employees face a clear choice: embrace the administration’s vision for a leaner, more effective government or take a generous severance package.

Either way, American taxpayers stand to benefit from a more efficient and responsive federal workforce.
