President Donald Trump is set to ruffle the feathers of America’s adversaries with his bombshell plans to rename a major Gulf.
Specifically, sources reveal that the president is ready to show his strong support for America’s Arab allies by renaming the Persian Gulf as the Arabian Gulf.
This bold move stands to strengthen U.S. relations with Saudi Arabia while sending a clear message to Iran that America will not bow to the hostile regime’s demands.
Two U.S. officials revealed that President Trump plans to make this significant announcement during his upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia.
The name change aligns with the longstanding preference of Gulf Arab countries.
They have advocated for the term “Arabian Gulf” instead of “Persian Gulf,” which has been in use since the 16th century.
President Trump has teased the announcement as “very, very big” and “as big as it gets.”
During a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, he stated, “It’ll be one of the most important announcements that have been made in many years about a certain subject, very important subject.”
While the U.S. military has already been using “Arabian Gulf” in its communications for years, this official change represents a significant diplomatic shift.

The naming controversy has been a point of contention for decades. Iran has gone to extreme lengths to protect the Persian name, even threatening to sue Google in 2012 for not properly labeling the body of water on its maps.
In 2010, Iran warned airlines against using “Arabian Gulf” on their in-flight monitors, showing how seriously the regime takes this issue.
“Politically motivated attempts to alter the historically established name of the Persian Gulf are indicative of hostile intent toward Iran and its people, and are firmly condemned,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The International Hydrographic Organization officially refers to the area as the “Persian Gulf,” but President Trump’s decision will impact how all American officials address the region.
The nearly 97,000-square-mile body of water borders several countries, including Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, making it strategically crucial for international relations and global commerce.
This is not Trump’s first foray into geographical renaming. He previously ordered the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America and recently restored Fort Liberty’s name to Fort Bragg.
Iran’s former president Hassan Rouhani had previously told President Trump to “study geography” when the president referred to the waterway as the Arabian Gulf in 2017.
Iranian officials have consistently reacted with indignation to any attempt to change the name.
