(5MinNewsBreak.com) – Father of murdered child JonBenét Ramsey, John Ramsey, has called out the Boulder Police Department for poor leadership and an unwillingness to collaborate in solving his daughter’s cold case.
The department’s stubborn refusal to help with outside experts has left this horrific crime unsolved for 28 years, denying justice for an innocent 6-year-old girl.
The brutal murder of JonBenét Ramsey in 1996 shocked the nation and exposed the incompetence of local law enforcement.
Found dead in the basement of her family’s home, the young beauty queen’s case remains unsolved nearly three decades later due to what her father calls “horrible failures” by police.
John Ramsey did not mince words when criticizing the Boulder Police Department’s mishandling of his daughter’s murder investigation. “There have been horrible failures,” Ramsey stated bluntly.
He believed the case could be solved if police would simply accept help from outside their department – something they have stubbornly refused to do for years. The police’s incompetence was on full display from the start.
Ramsey revealed, “The fellow who investigated our case was an auto theft investigator before our case. I never criticized them for not having experience — I criticized them for refusing help from people who did. And it was offered.”
In addition, the police initially focused their investigation on JonBenét’s own family, wasting time and resources. It was not until 2008 that DNA evidence finally exonerated the Ramseys, formally clearing them as suspects.
While a multi-agency task force, including the FBI and Colorado Bureau of Investigation, is now involved, it is too little, too late.
The Boulder Police Department’s initial failures and ongoing resistance to outside help have likely destroyed any chance of bringing JonBenét’s killer to justice.
The department claims to have convened a panel of outside experts to review the case and explore new technologies.
Yet, after 28 years of stonewalling and incompetence, it is hard to believe this is anything more than a PR stunt to placate an outraged public.
John Ramsey’s plea for collaboration and accountability highlights a broader issue in law enforcement: the dangerous tendency to prioritize protecting one’s own reputation over solving crimes and serving justice.
