Labeling it as nothing but a massive betrayal of fiscal conservatives, billionaire Elon Musk has blasted President Donald Trump’s flagship budget legislation as a “disgusting abomination.”

The tech mogul’s scathing criticism exposes the growing divide between fiscal conservatives and the administration’s spending priorities.

Musk, who recently concluded his role as a special government employee in the Trump administration, unleashed his frustration on his X platform about the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk declared, pulling no punches in his assessment of the legislation championed by President Trump.

“Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it,” the tech mogul added.

The bill, which extends the president’s 2017 tax cuts and increases military and border security spending, comes with a hefty price tag that has alarmed fiscal conservatives.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the legislation would add roughly $3.8 trillion to the federal debt over the next decade, a burden that will fall on American taxpayers for generations to come.

While the bill includes priorities that conservatives support, such as strengthened border security and military funding, Musk’s criticism centers on the overall fiscal impact.

He claimed the legislation would significantly increase the budget deficit to $2.5 trillion and impose unsustainable debt on American citizens.

It would also effectively undermine the work of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team that Musk had been part of.

The White House has doubled down on its support for the legislation despite Musk’s criticism.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the billionaire’s concerns, stating, “Look, the president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill. It doesn’t change the president’s opinion. This is one big, beautiful bill and he’s sticking to it.”

President Trump himself has defended the bill, arguing it would lead to “tremendous GROWTH” for the American economy.

The president also targeted Senator Rand Paul for opposing the bill’s debt ceiling increase.

Not all Republicans are backing the president’s position. Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) voted against the bill in the House and publicly agreed with Musk’s assessment.

This suggests growing discontent among fiscal conservatives who have long championed reduced government spending and balanced budgets.

The Senate is currently negotiating the bill, with President Trump actively engaging with senators to secure its passage.

While the legislation maintains some conservative priorities, its massive price tag raises serious questions about the future of fiscal responsibility in Washington.
